Accident procedure: charges would be posted weeks in advance. Preliminary hearing to determine the seriousness of the case. No case however complex is not allowed to last more than a day. The case will be heard by a jourry of 501 male athenian citizens. In that time there was no official judge, just voting. Socrates trial came a few days before a festival - important to athenians. Executions were postponed until after the festival. Held for 30 days, visitors were allowed to come by at any time.
