How much freedom state governments should have. Human beings may have rights that protect us from the government abuses. Rights are supposed to limit the freedom of government and stop them from abusing us. A right is a requirement that other people treat you in some specific way, or refrain from treating you in some specific way. Every citizen of canada has the right to vote in an election of members of the house of. Commons or of a legislative assembly and to be qualified for membership therein. Rights are made up of two parts/claims. There is a right holder who is entitled to certain treatment. There is a duty holder who must allow the right holder to receive the treatment they are entitled to. Thought of as a tool that we could use against state governments. People use the word rights, but generally all that it meant is that you demanded to be included in the government decisions.
