Without suffering, life would be boring suffering gives meaning to happiness. 1. the world is full of suffering: suffering serves a purpose, we suffer more than animals because we have superior human knowledge. Other points: it is senseless to think that the world is good. Misfortune: it is not accidental, it keeps us from being arrogant and keeps us from being bored. The more knowledge, the higher the degree of suffering / pain felt. Ex: plants (low sense of suffering felt) animals dull / instinctive humans . This leaves us to conclude that ignorance is bliss" ( as seen in other organisms) Our intense emotions separates us from animals: schopenhauer believes that these are bad because they make us suffer. It would be better for there to be no life. Our first declaration by an author that believes life is meaningless.
