1926-1947: 4000 to 6000 canadian women die as a result of bungled illegal abortions. 1969: parliament asses amendments to section 251 of the criminal code: Decriminalizes contraception and allows abortion under extremely restricted conditions. 1970: vancouver women"s caucus (group of independent feminists) organizes the abortion. Caravan as a political opposition to section 251. Doctors across the country were attacked in stabbings and shootings. Clinics were bombed and toxic fluids were injected into walls and ceilings. Is the fetus viable / is there a high risk of genetic disorder or hereditary conditions. Does she want to be a mother: motherhood is not innate and neither is it conferred at conception, motherhood is either chosen or forced onto women.
