If you read this version of the categorical imperative, it can be used as a starting point for your moral reasoning. Imagine you"re in a situation and you"re deciding whether to do one action or the other and it can help you. You won"t find a list of rules to follow, but it"ll depend a lot on context instead. For kant it isn"t about the results of our actions but the nature of our actions themselves; and not just the act itself but the reason why we"re doing that act - that"s part of the act as well! Person giving back correct change to people - it isn"t enough that he is doing something good, his reason for doing so matters as well!
