Modern gpe is a prisoner of its past . This means that the environment we live in is a product of historical experiences. History impacts how we live and how the economy is organized. This doesn"t mean that we don"t have the agency to change current events. Structure: the social system that constrains the actions of individuals. Agency: refers to the ability of actors to make rational choices independently. Actors: what role did actors play in the evaluation of gpe. Most activity was local and agriculturally based. There was still trade although mostly of luxury goods. There was a substantial exchange of money from europe across the mediterranean and to the east. At that time if we were to predict who would be the global power of the century we would have guessed china or india. In the mid 1400s there were many expeditions from europe around the coast of africa and america.
