Trying to change/shape the world around us and make it into a fundamentally better place. Revolutionary document not just interpreting the world, changing it. Manifesto draws together economics, politics, history, philosophy, etc. Alienation, theory of species-being, class struggle, economic life. Sharp sided piece of analysis; capitalism and globalism. Modern world is the product of capitalism. Rise of modern capitalism - single system. One basic economic system has tied together the entire world. Has never been globalized until the rise of capitalism. Not people or ideas; how history progresses (how it happens) Individuals that bring about innovations and change society. Ideas according to marx do not do anything at all (do not change the material world) What changes the material world is the material world. Progress material conditions that humans live under.
