We are looking at the introduction for the core way to look at people studying in the politics of. Social scientists would tend to find that most people would name more elite groups, less specific then our list created in lecture. Idea that power was run by a set of elites. Who are the people who run our institutions. They all go to similar schools/clubs - the elites. How would you explain that the elites self reinforce - other actors are being neglected (for example interest groups) It"s not enough to ask people who rule the town - because your are getting just opinions and they may not reflect who governs transparently. Groups sometimes work together, and sometimes against each other. Having money is great, but it isn"t the only relevant resource. Sometimes wealthy people don"t have the time or resources - therefore people that can dedicate time use time as a relevant resources.
