If you make anything big enough, it functionally has to be an oligarchy. It doesn t matter what kind of organization, it will be an oligarchy. Being an extremely small cog in a very large machine. Once you get mass democracy, you have to have parties because this is the only way you can consolidate power. To have mass democracy means you have to organize in terms of parties means that democracy in the modern world has to be taken by plebiscite (plebiscitarian) - a referendum. Two features: it has to be a yes/no question, the people who make the choice, which will be all the people, never get to set the question. The questions are set by who is running the machine.
