1)-he believes that equality poses a danger to freedom. There is good equality and then there is bad equality. The french revolution was the bad type of equality whereas the american was the good type of equality. 2)-tyranny of the majority > volume 1 chapter 7: even if what someone something harmful to a minority, that should be prevented (mill). When toecqvuille talks about it there is no way the minority will argue against the majority because it is so hard they will control what people think. The range of opinion in the us is the narrowest you"ve seen in any country. If the majority believe something it is impossible for the minorities to oppose them. The real danger is the majority having an in uence on the culture. It is a problem of conforminism not just legislation. Everybody is worried about what everybody else thinks.
