The oedipus complex (girls) [ electra complex ] Sexual libido cathected to mom, girl sees dad as rival, wants to remove him so the aggressive libido is towards him. Girl discovers penis missing, mom took it away. Penis envy. decathects most sexual libido from mom, decathects aggressive libido from dad. Now puts aggressive libido to mom, penis thief, and sexual libido to dad. Girl is not interested in dad as a whole, she just wants the organ, penis envy. Girl decathects aggressive libido from mom, and decathects sexual from dad. Girls should have a stronger relationship with father, and mothers and daughters should normally have a conflicted relationship. Girl identifies with mom; some with dad to a lesser degree. (protection thing) but girls do not identify with parents as much as boys do. Identification leads to development of super ego, girls will have a weaker superego than boys. Sexual libido gets put into dad like objects.
