What seems obvious may not be so. Common sense does not always equal research findings. Mere presence of others is an important variable in the performance of the actor hypothesis. Co-actor: another individual performing the same task. Audience: group of people observing an individual performing a task. Social facilitation: the increased performance that occurs in the presence. A complication of co-actors or an audience. You learn appropriate behaviours by modeling and imitating the behaviours of others. Differentiated from conditioning because it doesn"t require explicit reinforcement. Picks doll back up once it tips over. Adult did either aggressive or passive play behaviour to model for the child. Child did the same aggressive play if they viewed it before. Aggression was spontaneous not explicit reinforcement: in a follow up. Kids still attacks real person in clown suit.
