Adapions: biological traits that help an individual to survive and reproduce in its habitat: adaptaions perform a speciic funcion, higher mental processes can be seen as adaptaions. Natural selecion one of the 4 basic mechanisms for evoluion: mutaion, geneic drit, migraion and natural selecion. Natural selecion being the most signiicant long term. Diferenial survival and reproducion of organisms as a result of the heritable diferences between them. Favoring of a certain trait due to natural selecion, and this trait is therefore favored to be transferred to the next generaion. Stabilizing selecion: selecion against any sort of departure from the species typical adapive design. When a change in environment, natural selecion may favor not typical traits (ex. If all the world"s water turned red, red color trait in ish would be favored due to its surviving favorable camoulage trait) Darwin"s gallapogos inch natural selecion for beak size during draught. Darwinian fitness: average reproducive success of a genotype relaive to alternaive genotypes.
