Men have higher mortality rate: head of household occupation (some blue-collared jobs can be tiring and impact health so can affect rearing outcomes) White-collared jobs produce better outcomes than blue ones: 5+ children poorer rearing outcomes. Can change intellectual tone of a family so gets diffused a bit so not so much interaction between parents and kids.
