Document Summary

Developmental psychology: developmental psychology studies how we change (or don"t change) over time. It can also be before/after (not age) things like marriage or school: can study three year olds, some of which have gone to school and some of which have not, developmental psychologists study everything . They"re interested in emotional development, neurodevelopment, physical development, learning to walk, etc: trying to learn what"s going on and why (describe and explain), we study children because, rapid development. More change happens to children than humans in the rest of their lives: long term influences. Early experiences affect later development: real-work applications. For example, ingestion of led in children lead to problems in children"s development. There was a time when we thought of children as little adults, without the ability to develop. Now, we have three major overarching themes: directionality of development, sometimes the loss of something is development as well.
