How people change or don"t change during their lives. Long term in uences (understand how children become an optimal version of the adult they"re growing into) ex: different types of parents and parenting creates different types of children and goals. Real world applications ex: lead paint banned because children developed cognitive problems from it. Proof of this: synaptic pruning: brain connections that aren"t useful are being killed off or reassigned, and without this it interferes with cognitive development. People on the autism spectrum are said to not have enough pruning as a child, are having problems to later develop. Ex of discontinuous: life cycle of monarch butter y not adding on, actually changing! Roles of nature (biology) and nurture (environment) in development efegenics: think the environment can change the ways the genes are expressed. Continuity= nurture adding stuff on and on and on experiences associated with how you are nurtured. Basic research methodology; methods of data collection.
