Conversion disorder; functional neurological symptom disorder used to be called hysteria primarily diagnosed in women called conversion disorder because homage to freud arguing that psychological problems have been converted to physical symptoms. Factitious disorder: pretending you have a disorder you don"t have deliberately. Low prevalence rate in community standards, but higher in clinical states. Helps to eliminate mind body dualism in western mindset to see mind and body as two separate entities. One or more symptoms of altered voluntary motor or sensory function ex: sudden deafness, blindness for sensory side ex: paralysis for motor side. These symptoms are real, psychologically generated but are real symptoms they feel! Symptom incompatible with recognized neurological or medical condition. Must be sure it is neurological and not a physical condition. Symptoms not better explained by another medical or mental condition.
