Loss of conscious access of areas of ones life. One of the most controversial areas in dsm subcategories. Dissociative amnesia; no memory of part of their past can be a few hours to weeks and months. Dissociative identity disorder (multiple personality disorder); multiple personality fragments, alters in different subsets of memory and other personality that do not share memories etc. Depersonalization/ derealization disorder; depersonalization feel like they are not themselves, they are watching themselves derealization is sense that what you are going through is not real like a dream state. 2 or more distinct personality states; involving marked discontinuity in sense of self, alternations in affect, behaviour, consciousness, memory, perception, cognition, and/ or sensory-motor functioning. Recurring gaps in recall of events, personal information, and/or traumata events, that is inconsistent with ordinary forgetting. Symptoms cause clinically signi cant distress or impairment in important areas of functioning.
