Dsm disorder categories do not reflect the multiple and overlapping causes of mental disorder. We do not know the causes of any disorders we will discuss, or any others in the dsm. We do not know why or how our pharmacological or psychotherapeutic treatments work. Ethical considerations prevent much research involving individuals with particular disorder.
