Panic disorder is categorized by very intense attacks of anxiety: that why its called panic attack sometimes. Don"t have to rmb criteria for dsm; just know how they describe individuals who meet the criteria. Paresthesias: feelings that aren"t produced by actual external stimuli. Things like tingling or numbness in the extremities. Derealisation: when whats happening to you is not real; things occurring around you aren"t in the real world; feels like a dream state. Depersonalization: feeling like youre outside of yourself, the feelings that something is not really happening to you but youre standing outside and watching yourself as if it were happening to you. Maladaptive change in behaviour: avoiding situations where you think it would be difficult to escape if you were to have a panic attack or do something embarrassing, avoiding places you had a panic attack in before.
