Perspectives: general assumptions, how we, in general should understand personality even though the assumption is to make different assumptions of it. Perception is a framework where a theory gets developed. There are several general perspectives on personality within which specific theories of personality are generated. Types approach: the oldest perspective is the type approach, which argues that there are only a limited number of personality types, which are genetically determined, limited number of distinct personality types. Collections of characteristics that defines a person"s personality and each person has one of these types: emphasis on biological bases of personality. Types are given to us at birth and cannot be changed. We still talk about personality in this context of well you know the type : oldest approach. Thus, giving their personality a certain type therefore naming their personality based on these humours. Blood (sanguine [latin word for blood]): someone who is low-key and optimistic.
