Cognitivists tend to see experience and learning as the most important to shape our nal personality: most recent in uential approach. Focus on adaptive functions of personality through evolution. Not as in uential as the rest of the perspectives. Patterns of behaviour acquire evolution and are useful to us Theorists have a hard time understanding individual behaviour. Evolution theories have always focused on the motivation of others. Created the rst modern theory of personality; born in 1856. Oldest of 6 siblings; mother"s favourite child (always got what he wanted, and had lots of power) Very close to his mother, she always listened to him: most of his colleagues were women. Sometimes we don"t understand the ways in which we behave.
