Mostly about the fulfillment of the individual, individuals full realization of their full capabilities, talents, etc. Desire to help person achieve understanding, wholeness, meaning. Focus on individual"s unique perception of the world. Digging deeper into the tiny little elements of behaviour, brain structure/function. Believe cannot fully understand persons personality by just understanding pieces. Humanistic principles: the primary study of psychology should be the experiencing person. Human nature: is the set of motives, needs, pressures that are on us to do something in a particular direction. Said human needs are instinctoid, not instinctive. The instinctoid motives are built in but under higher conscious control. Three ways in which this is ordered: Needs at bottom of base are more biological (more about maintenance and preservation of physical individual), at the top you look at more psychologically relevant needs. In terms of evolutionary age of these needs.
