PSYCH 2B03 Lecture Notes - Lecture 7: Postdiction, Personal Unconscious, Extraversion And Introversion
Document Summary
Archetype: our instinct to achieve unity and wholeness. Complex: the integration of all aspects/complexes of personality. It very rarely develops and if it does it takes over all the other complexes and makes them disappear. Self actualization: happens through individuation and transcendent function: individuation - it involves discovering and differentiating the various complexes in the personality. It starts with the persona, then the anima/animus then the shadow: transcended function - takes individual complexes and reintegrate them into one large complex called the self. You can"t separate them out again (it is like baking a cake, you can"t separate it into its ingredients). To actualize itself is the highest goal of personality. o. Introvert vs. extrovert the ideal situation is one which we use attitudes equally but that is typically not the way it works. We have a preference for one of the attitudes; our conscious ego is dominated by one of the attitudes.
