Attitudes are our evaluations of the world. 3 component of attitudes: effective emotion, behavioural, cognitive. Theory of planned behaviour: attitude towards the behaviour, subjective norms and perceived behavioural control are components which lead to behavioural intention which leads to behaviour change. Attitude towards the behaviour: people"s specific attitude towards the behaviour, not their general attitude. Subjective norms: people"s beliefs about how other people they care about will view the behaviour in question. Perceived behavioural control: the ease with which people believe they can perform the behaviour. Attitudes predicting behaviour: scenario (wanting to start eating healthy) Attitude towards the behaviour: a healthy diet is important. Subjective norms: others drink green juices, avoid soda. Perceived behavioural control: i can change my diet, afford fresh food. These lead to then intention: i"m going to buy fruits/vegetables tomorrow. The intention furthermore leads to the change: eat more greens, less sugar. Attitudes predicting behaviour: intrinsic vs extrinsic: intrinsic motivation.
