PSYCH 2C03 Lecture Notes - Lecture 10: Egg Cell, The Honking, Educational Film
Document Summary
Aggression is an act where some sort of harm is intended, not only physical but also psychological/emotional. Large sex differences in physical aggression (where we see males being more physically aggressive than females) Not only in humans, in other species as well. Sex differences in reproductive biology: females produce one ovum, males produce many sperms. Size difference: eggs are biological expensive for females to produce = limited reproductive career. There is also a limited time of the month that females can become pregnant. In contrast, male can produce so much sperm and are not limited into a specific amount of time. Also, the two sexes can reproduce at different rates, when a woman gets pregnant she is busy for 2 years when a man gets a woman pregnant he could get another one immediately. Women do compete to access to good mates but not physically. That"s due to the cost vs the benefit. The cost of physical aggression is high.
