Ethogram time budget (frequency and time) Methods: recorded behaviour every 5 minutes for an entire day once a week for 11 months. Results: elephants spent about of their time feeding, stereotypic behaviour negatively correlated with feeding behaviour. Conclusion: using widely spaced feeders to supply food slowly and at random times could reduce the frequency of stereotypic behaviour. Learning allows animals to adapt to their environment. Hypothesis: as birds age they should have more experience handling food. Prediction: older birds should handle food faster than younger birds. Methods: mealworms cut into small or large pieces, smaller pieces easier to maneuver, recorded handling times (time from first contact until consumption) of recently fledged, young, and older juveniles, as well as adults. Cognitivism is an approach in psychology that is concerned more with decision making, thinking, problem solving, imagining, and related topics, than solely, or primarily, with observable behaviour.
