PSYCH 2MP3 Lecture Notes - Lecture 2: Overtone Singing, Spectral Density, Sawtooth Wave
Document Summary
Lecture 2: an image that represents sound, higher on the y axis = higher frequency, amplitude is detected by the color of the waves. Tale of blind men trying to figure out what they are touching. Based on the different parts of the elephant that they are touching, they think it is a different thing. Point: when we have a different experience of the same thing, we can conclude different things about the thing. Just like how music / sound, based on our own subjectivity, can be different to each one of us. When flipped the other way, the bumps and dents are reversed. Why do we assume that this happens: because in our world, we automatically assume that light comes from above. Built on the fact that our brain has to constantly understand how we have a 3d world even though it is only getting input from 2 dimensions.
