One of first individuals to develop a formal theory of behavior. Error: said our emotions and perceptions resided in the heart, the mind controls our behavior and resides in our heart. When you go through different situations, your heart actually does respond: this is where he gets his idea from. Worked with gladiators to see what was happening inside of the body: when he observed their bodies if they were injured, he saw that all things were connected from our toes to our brain. Refuted the cardiac hypothesis (aristotle) that the mind resides in the heart. His idea: everything resides in the brain (in the ventricles) Intertwines the spirit of the mind and the physical part of the brain. Group of thinkers / practitioners who worked with people. Agree: brain has control of our behavior. Added: different parts of the brain do different things. Gave insight into the idea that different parts of the brain do different things.
