Participate in extracurricular activities: tend to take on school property and maintain positive relationship with school. A high portion of high school students don"t take school or studies seriously. Do not embody school spirit and school pride. Tendency to engage in risky behaviours: eg. poor choices about sexual behaviour, and poor choice respect to substances. Students who is quiet, disengaged, low achieving, poorly adjusted. Likely to have authoritative parents who are involved: communicate effectively with child, implementing discipline. Effort and success predict more years of schooling. Link exists for poor, as well as middle class students. More schooling has a powerful effect on income. Data is not reliable , not every family participate or tell. Ontario-no obligation to follow provincial curriculum or participate in any standardized testing. Believe they can do a better job than public or private school. Want to promote their own religious and moral values in their children"s education. Protect children from negative peer influences (eg. bullying)
