Strong: rural areas, feeling connected to community, less mistrust between different social classes, or ethnic background. Many stressors such as poverty, unemployment or inadequate housing make people feel powerless and disregarded. Feelings of distrust towards other people in neighbourhoods as well as towards authorities. People who feel powerless are less likely to take charge of things and push for change. A sense of community is related to good physical and mental health. Being engaged in an organization helps adolescence feel important: if you identify with the community, you"re more likely to take. Working towards common goals helps adolescence have a sense of initiative and take part in helping the community: helps them understand that they aren"t the only ones going. Adolescents can greatly help an organization: they bring energy, high levels of enthusiasm, feel that they are being appreciated and that people are acknowledging what they are doing. Skills: interpersonal skills, negotiating and compromising.
