But certain things must happen in order for complete sexual differentiation to occur. Genetic variants may cause those things not to happen: gay males insufficiently defeminized/masculinized, gay females defeminized/masculinized. Incomplete sexual differentiation of the brain leads to sex-atypical reproductive behaviours in adulthood: organizational-activation hypothesis. You have permanent organization of the brain structure pre-nattily. Then they are activated post-nattily during puberty when all the hormones go about. 7th, 8th, 10th, and x chromosome most likely. More likely to be present in homosexuals than heterosexuals: but we will never find the gay gene .
