Structural powerlessness hypothesis: feminist theory that women only want rich men because it is the only way they can acquire resources they are excluded from trying to get resources by other means. Buss: more success women placed more value on social status, height and income, etc. (homogamy) Wiederman: compared what women thought they would make after school to how much they want their mate to make. Found that the more she made the more she wanted her mate to make. Gill-burmann the more resources and status women had the more like they were to advertise speciically that they wanted men with resources and status. Ardener: less women than men in culture, so they have power and choose to mate with those with the best resources not most attractive. Moore: found women with inancial independence were willing to trade resources for physical attractiveness in a mate so if they do trade of, it is for looks.
