Reward model: when we are in a relaionship with someone, we are most likely to be with someone who is the most rewarding to us o. It is the balance of these posiive things that make us seek out a relaionship with someone. Propinquity: theory about physical proximity; those who are closest to us are more rewarding to us. Factors afecing atracion to potenially rewarding people? o o o. Physical proximity plays a role in whether we will: They are rewarding because they are just there, it is easy. It is rewarding when you don"t have to try hard. Fesinger, schachter, & back (1950) westgate study on propinquity and friendship - everything interpersonal. Tons of soldiers coming back from the war and being ofered to go to university for cheap. The universiies, started to build residence buildings for these soldiers who were usually married with families, some single. They wanted to see who would become friends in the residencies.
