If you ind someone who has all the qualiies and characterisics you want, would you marry them even if you don"t love them? o. Did not always go together; thought of as separate eniies. Marriage is oten based on love, especially in the west. In ancient rome, marriage was a poliical and family arrangements, love didn"t mater. In the past, happiness and pleasure were not a part of the deal. People who married for love, were looked down upon. Middle ages - passionate love was dangerous, the path to hell. Medieval imes - courtly love, a young knight would take a love for a wealth lady that was completely chaste, a quest to devote themselves to an already married lady; love and marriage not together. More implying what people thought about marriage at the ime. Romanic era - thought that love would be very nice in a marriage relaionship, but it wasn"t necessary.
