Evidence for: extended sexuality, menstrual cycle studies on changes in preference, increased preference for masculine traits (more) at peak fertility. Seen in other animals that have estrus. Novel in humans and chimps, result of convergent evolution. Bonobos do not exhibit this behavior, so has to be convergent. Evolution of increased preferences for cues to paternal investment during phase of extended sexuality. Evidence for: extended sexuality (bonobos also have extended sexuality), menstrual cycle studies on changes in preferences, increased preference for fem traits when less fertile or when increased resources are required (pill/pregnant), hadza study of when breastfeeding. This behavior is novel and evolved after splitting from apes (humans only apes with biparental) Fatherhood is a new step in human evolution. Increased preference for masculinity at peak fertility: evidence based on menstrual cycle house of cards. Increased preference for femininity at times when investment is needed for long-term partnerships: cycle studies are not required as evidence, no house of cards.
