Document Summary
Psych 3f03: evolution & human behaviour introduction & overview. Individual characteristics resulting from environmental interaction of an organisms genotype (e. g. what is expressed by the genes: ex. Are your eyes brown, green, blue, or hazel: genotype, the genetic constitution of an organism, not which allele is expressed its which genes code for what, ex. A few things: belief in evolution, naturalistic fallacy, not everything is adaptive, that a trait or behaviour evolved does not preclude individual differences, thinking of a better way for something to be adaptive does not disprove evolution. Why isnt everything adaptive: most mutations are not adaptive and lower reproductive success. It is a rare event in evolution that a mutation that changes phenotypic quality increases reproductive success. It is more common to find mutations that reduce or are inconsequential to phenotypic quality: evolution via natural selection is a process, not an event. It is not over: nothing has finished evolving.
