Too many people were let into the stadium and there were not enough seats; a lot of the area was standing room only. 96 people were killed because of this poor decision. All the dead people were young liverpool supporters. There were huge public expressions of grief in liverpool (anfield pilgrimage) These expressions blurred the boundaries of institutional and popular religion. The day after was sunday, and all over the city the deceased were remembered. People also started coming to the home stadium of liverpool.
