Badr - first war 624 ad muslims and meccans. 625 ad - second battle at uhud - outskirts of medina. 628 ad - muhammed had a dream of going to mecca for pilgrimage. 630 ad; peace treaty violated by the meccans. 632 ad - final pilgrimage to mecca for the prophet. Reminds the people about the hereafter, sinning, punishment, life for woman, and the ummah. Islam expanded to syria and to iraq, to iran, egypt, Oral society, memory is used rather than written down. Different versions of the quran would cause chaos, ordered them to be burned.
