Cultural variations have significant implications on how people approach death. Person who is physically alive is treated like they are dead. A child may marry someone of wrong religion; child is socially dead. People who live in long term disabilities(alzheimers, aids, prison) Most common reaction to death is death anxiety, fear of death. Our own death is unimaginable, imagining it is like spectators. The unconcious everyone convinced of his own immortality. Unconcious; there is no death to cancel out life. Express fear of death, not death that"s feared, because no one has ever really died. Linking death anxiety to the otapus complex of death anxiety. We stretch his argument; it can be useful. Existence of 1. personal attachments + 2. the fact of death. Most important source of religious belief is death. Every death system has norms that indicate how or when. Deatj sysstems are not static, constantly evolve one is ath.
