The people that belonged to peoples temple were an interracial group of many ages. Jim was obsessed with religion and death. Jim jones was very accepting of black people during a time when they were strongly discriminated against. Jim spread his beliefs about socialism and the world and equality through bus tours. People tended to not think for themselves, they were only sleeping for 2 hours a night or went days with no sleep, they were allowing jones to think for them. Jones asked a lady in a wheelchair to slowly begin walking, she did, and later it was found out she was one of the secretaries. Jones said the bible held back black people for years and he dropped it and said it has no power. He said you need to believe in what you see and jones said, if you see me as your god, ill be your god.
