Theories: strain theory i. e. merton cohen, differential association theory, social control theory, labeling theories, biologically based theories. More and more in the news in which incidents are involving children and teens. Girls in violence is directed more at girls and other groups of girls. These theories were mostly directed at males and violence. These theories as generated spoke about the males and not the female (theories listed above). We need to look more closely to females. A couple research done on females in the past. Have a selective group of people who come from very hard backgrounds in terms of poverty and not having enough resources. Many of them are associated with boys in the gang. The cohort between 13-16, these girls have the highest participation in violence (according to article). Girls in teen years as a select group are at risk.
