Rooming houses, people don"t have a lot of money so they turn to drugs and crimes. Rooming houses are very important, people can"t afford apartments or houses. People who own rooming houses are trying to squeeze as much money out of renters as they can. People living in poverty accept these terrible living conditions because they have no choice or they"ll be at the salvation army or on the streets. It"s unaffordable to fix these rooming houses (so they say) All it takes to improve conditions is an owner that cares about their renters. Landlords are changing a lot of rooming houses into student housing. Neighbourhoods alive has put funding into these neighbourhoods to confront. In 1980"s-1990s neighbourhoods (in winnipeg) started going in decline issues of poverty (2000) Housing crisis in canada, being manifested in the inner city of winnipeg. Trying to find funding to support people and create new housing.
