Document Summary

The mind is an empty vessel and socialization is like taking a big jug and pouring culture into it. It starts at birth and it never stops. Whenever you learn anything about the culture, whenever you acquire cultural knowledge, that"s socialization. Feral children-found in the wild that have managed to survive in a forest. Are worse off than isolated children (even if you find isolated children, they rarely develop normally) Learning takes place in stages, so the mind will open up during a particular stage and children will learn fast. The capacity to learn has to take place at a particular time. They are not able to form intimate social relationships w/ others (never learned) Difficult to acquire basic language skills and people that have not been exposed to the socialization process appear to be strange (not really aware of what"s going on around them, game playing important part of socialization)
