Trends that might impact you post-graduation: the growing number of overqualified workers, the expansion of contract work, the disappearance of company-sponsored pension plans, corporate downsizing and restructuring. Over qualification measured as the proportion of individuals with a university degree who work in occupations that require a high school education. Using this measure, 18% of university graduates (aged 25-34) were overqualified in. The higher the university certification, the less likely to have a job that only requires high school. 1 out of every 5 people in the workforce with a university education was overqualified. Younger workers, immigrants, people who studied commerce, arts and humanities were more at risk. Canadian union workers, full time, those who studied scientists and health in school were less at risk. Impacts people emotionally, financially and politically underutilizing capital.
