Structural functionalism: fans sense of pride, help advance sports in most countries funding for amateur sports. Conflict theory: athletic success is a reflection of having economic resources rather than athletic talent, best coaches, time, facilities, etc, to suggest the amount of money put into holding the olympics. Symbolic interactionism: the symbols associated with the olympics. Flags: they are studying the athletes themselves, how they compete, how they play, how they prepare themselves physically and mentally before competition, interested in studying your subjectivity what do you do to prepare for your competition. Superstitious behaviours that will help them during their competition: all the people watching them perform superstitious behaviours of fans. Feminist theory: curious about gender based qualities, inequalities in media coverage in male and female athletes. Symbolic interactionism: how grieving is done and how it is done in interaction with others. Give and receive support: use of religious symbols, flowers, boxes of tissues, etc.
