Sociological theories: order theories: support status-quo, change theories: social change, macro-sociology: society shapes us, micro-sociology: we make society. Con ict theory: change theory, macro: karl marx, most important: economic or material conditions, class con ict, equality, challenge capitalism. Symbolic interactionism: change theory, micro: interpersonal communication, interactions create society, subjectivity, ex. creating family on thanksgiving. Feminist theories: change theory, macro and micro: gender relations, gender inequalities, women"s social reality, ex. unpaid labour(housework, caregiving, patriarchy is problematic because not all men dominate woman/not al women are submissive to the patriarchy. Some countries can only afford to send limited number of athletes. Money spent on olympics is wasteful and should go towards the poor: a symbolic interactionist would be interested in how athletes prepare themselves mentally and physically for the olympics. !2: a feminist perspective would look at funding for women and men.
