Primary socialization: first understandings of the self. Secondary socialization: learning process experienced in social institutions external to the family. Behavioural rules social groups: contributing factors. Wants every one to have shared morality. And civic education / about the province, but what groups are you not learning about (certain sexualities, cultures, etc. ) Teachers represent the pseudo parent _ expected to be leaders of morality. Behaviours of teachers has a lasting effect on students. Relational aggression within peer groups is how friends can be mean towards others. The parent: both source of authority, high level of intimacy. With parent, there"s a great deal of intimacy, with a teacher it"s low: high level of dependency. Between parent and child, but a low level of dependancy on teacher because teacher wants child to be independent. Moral: preferred understanding of right and wrong. Cultural: accepted styles of expression, preferred cultural practices. All have to do with what it takes to succeed as a student.
