Midterm; 49/55 (mc: 12/15 + long answer 37/40) Historical overview macro-level processes that have shaped the society in which we live today: Oldest form of feminism in the western world. Responsible for winning many of the rights and freedoms that women have today. Goal is to have more women represented in positions of power. The intersection of gender and class produces outcomes that cannot be understood by looking at one type of oppression in isolation. Class inequality under capitalism is sustained partly thanks to (feeds off) gender inequality in the form of: women"s work (social reproduction, women as a source of cheap labour to exploited in commodity production. Socialist feminism is incompatible with the capitalist relationship production. Applying the liberal feminist logic"s focus on women being *add* as men (and completely ignoring class), if women achieve the *add* of oppression of men, then they have become liberated - which is obviously a problematic assertion.
