During the 1970s established the concept of gender. Sex is a biological concept which identifies the difference between men and women. Social concept that refers to culturally learned behaviours associated with masculinity and femininity o o o o o. This means males have been taught to exhibit behaviours that are socially defined as masculine. Women have been taught to exhibit behaviours that are socially defined as feminine. These behaviours are not biologically determined, they are socially constructed. The masculine is associated with power and therefore it is valued in society. The feminine is not associated with power and it is devalued in society. B) o o emphasizes how women are disadvantaged by cultural and ideological processes in society. They suggest children learn gendered behaviour from agents of socialization like school, family and mass media. They encourage children to adopt behaviours and go into occupations that are gendered.
